Icon Map Slicer
by Tekantis
Advanced geospatial analytics made simple with Icon Map Slicer for Microsoft Power BI
Icon Map Slicer from Tekantis is a powerful map visual that works like a slicer - only with advanced geospatial visualization capabilities.
Easily select items directly on the map using multiple intuitive selection methods, with selections persisting exactly as they would in a traditional slicer. Rotate, tilt, and explore your data in stunning 3D, with realistic terrain and landscapes seamlessly integrated with your Power BI data. This immersive approach enhances decision-making by placing insights in their true geographical context.
Icon Map Slicer provides an extensive list of capabilities including:
Selection
Multiple options for selecting data items:
- Click - click single items. Hold down the control key to select multiple.
- Lasso - draw around a selection of items to select them all.
- Reference Layer Polygons - select all the items within a polygon specified in a shape file.
- Select Intersecting Items - select all the items that overlap or are within the area of a selected object.
- Radius - draw a circle to select all items within it.
- Location - Zoom and drag around the map to filter longitude and latitude in your Power BI semantic model.
Data-Bound Items
Icon Map Slicer enables you to draw an impressive range of different types of objects on your map, and locate and format them based on data in your Power BI semantic model.
The different types of data-bound items include:
- Circles - including clustering
- Images - from external URLs or data:// URLs including SVG support
- Lines - straight, curved and geodesic
- H3 hexagons - from point data or H3 indexes
- Shapes stored in your Power BI dataset in Well Known Text (WKT) or GeoJSON format
- Shapes loaded from externally hosted files in ESRI Shapefile, KML or GeoJSON format
- Shapes uploaded from local files in ESRI Shapefile, KML or GeoJSON format
- Shapes loaded from vector tiles
All with comprehensive support for Power BI's conditional formatting options.
Configure multiple fields for your tooltips or use report page tooltips.
Drill-down through multiple levels of circles, H3 hexagons (with H3 Indexes) or shape layers.
Add multiple layers of shapes, whether from files or vector tiles, all bound to your Power BI dataset, and apply different formatting options to each layer.
Work with longitude and latitude coordinates or specify a specific coordinate reference system (CRS) (eg British National Grid eastings and northings) for your source data and the coordinates are automatically translated to longitude and latitude coordinates and displayed on the map.
Map Backgrounds
Icon Map Pro comes with its own background mapping built from OpenStreetMap data and is available in a number of styles. In addition the UK's Ordnance Survey Open Zoom Stack layers are included.
Overlays and Reference Data
Icon Map Pro provides the ability to add additional reference information overlaid on top of the background map.
Examples include:
- Place names
- Daylight terminator
- Shapes loaded from an external URL or uploaded file
- Custom map layers from raster or vector tiles sources
