Create, edit, and save contextual comments and actions directly inside Power BI — with full writeback support. If you experience issues purchasing through AppSource, please contact us for alternative licensing options.
Why accoCOMMENT?
Organizations often struggle to capture the why behind the numbers. Email threads, Excel notes, and disconnected systems make it difficult to store business context consistently.
accoCOMMENT solves this by enabling users to comment directly in Power BI:
- Add business explanations to KPIs
- Document anomalies and data quality issues
- Capture management commentary for financial reporting
- Collect structured feedback
- Attach supporting documents to specific numbers
- Enhance collaboration directly in the BI workflow
As a native Power BI visual, you maintain the full flexibility of Power BI — both technically and visually — while enabling a powerful commenting workflow without switching systems.
What is accoCOMMENT?
accoCOMMENT is a Power BI custom visual that enables users to create context-dependent comments and actions tied directly to any number, visual, slice, or filtered dataset in Power BI.
It goes far beyond simple text commenting:
- Rich text comments (bold, colors, bullets, formatting)
- Ratings and structured assessments
- Dropdown selections & categorical inputs
- File uploads and supporting documents
- Figures, tags, and metadata
- Saved with filter context, row context, and data subsets
- Fully integrated writeback functionality to SQL
Because it is embedded directly in Power BI, comments automatically reflect applied filters and are saved with that exact context.
How Does It Work?
accoCOMMENT lets users create comments within any applied filter or data slice. Examples include:
- A comment tied to a specific product, month, or region
- A comment tied to a filtered customer segment
- A comment tied to a specific KPI value
- A comment containing text, tags, ratings, selections, and attachments
These comments are written back to a SQL table, enabling use in reporting, governance, planning, approval workflows, and more.
Requirements
- Microsoft Power BI
- SQL table access (Azure/Fabric/on-prem recommended) for writeback storage
- accoCOMMENT license (AppSource or vendor key)
