Metric KPI
by Viz Data Ltd
Stylish visual that reduces a series to a single value, using intelligent notation for large values
Enhance your KPIs and save time with the flexible Metric Visual
Make your reports beautiful with a stylish and versatile KPI visual that enhances the standard Power BI visual. By default, the KPI box inherits the primary color from your theme and displays units intelligently, using abbreviations like k, M, B, and T for numbers above 1000, allowing you to show decimals alongside these abbreviations.
You have complete control over the display, with options to fix the number of decimal places, set specific display units, and customize color and transparency for the background. You can also modify the font, font size, font color, and alignment for both the metric and the label. This visual is perfect for OKRs or any single series that requires a summarized aggregate number, whether it’s a minimum, maximum, sum, average, standard deviation, or other standard Power BI aggregation. You can place the label above or below the KPI, giving you full control over its appearance. For any suggestions, reach out at help@vizdata.co.uk.
Number Formatting
- Change display units to Auto, None, Thousands, Millions, Billions, or Trillions.
- Adjust decimals from 0 to 5 but note that Metric uses decimal setting from Data Model, if set.
- When Display Units is set to Auto, KPI Box uses scientific notation, showing values like 2.3k for 2304 if you set decimals to 1.
Box Color
- By default, the primary theme color is applied to both background and KPI font color.
- You can override the background color in the formatting pane, applying it to both KPI and label boxes.
- Transparency can be set for the KPI box alone, allowing for a transparent KPI box when set to 100%.
- The default label font color is white, but colors for both KPI and label can be changed independently.
KPI Format & Spacing
- Customize the font family, size, and color of the KPI text.
- Align the KPI horizontally (left, middle, or right) and vertically (top, middle, or bottom).
- Use padding controls to set the space around the KPI, affecting the nearest edge based on alignment.
Label Format & Spacing
- Turn off the label text if you want to display just a colored underline.
- Choose the label location (top or bottom).
- Adjust font family, size, and color for the label text.
- When increasing label font size, the label box automatically adjusts to fit the text.
- Align the label left, middle, or right.
- Use horizontal padding controls to adjust the buffer between the label and the box edge, based on alignment.
