Kyndryl will provide Cloud operations for the Client’s Azure environments covering IaaS and PaaS for workloads in cloud foundational services (Hub) and cloud infrastructure services (Spoke).

The Kyndryl Cloud Operations team guides the customer teams through the Service Onboarding activities, which help fulfil the prerequisites to start providing Steady State Support until the contracted period expires.

Service Elements Covered:

Service Onboarding & Management - During the Service Onboarding phase, the Technical Account Manager (TAM), Site Reliability Engineer and CloudOps engineers will work with the Client teams to set up prerequisites needed for Kyndryl to deliver the Cloud Managed services, including identities and access privileges, and the cloud IaaS and PaaS elements that would host Kyndryl-provided management components and automations.

Monitoring and Event Management - Kyndryl uses Azure Monitor services as the primary monitoring for the managed Azure workloads.

Backup Management - Kyndryl provides backups of Azure resources using standard cloud-native Azure Backup Service on a scheduled interval determined by the customer.

Patch Management - Kyndryl applies security-related interim fixes, patches, and updates to virtual machines using Azure Update Manager to the instances with Windows and Linux OS versions/distributions supported by the cloud service provider.

Security Compliance Management - Kyndryl uses Microsoft Defender for Cloud to configure Azure Policy to audit and enforce secure configurations of Azure cloud infrastructure resources, following Azure internal best practices and industry standards, particularly the defined policies which will be applied during the implementation phase or during the onboarding phase as per contract.

Cost optimization to monitor and control cloud spend - Kyndryl uses Azure Advisory and cost management to provide recommendations for cost optimization across Azure resources for reliability, security, operational excellence, performance, and cost.

In addition to the contracted scope, also referred to as the base scope, Add-on Services are ad hoc services that customers may consume based on specific requirements related to design and implementation.

Expert Design Services - Kyndryl provides Azure architecture design support to help define infrastructure aligned to performance, reliability, security, operational excellence, and cost optimization using guidance from the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Azure Well-Architected Framework.

Expert Implementation Services - Kyndryl delivers implementation services to deploy Azure environments based on project needs using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), standard templates, scripts, and automation assets.

Kyndryl brings proven experience managing complex enterprise environments aligned to Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) best practices to enable a secure, scalable, and modern Azure operating model.
