SAP ECC to Microsoft Fabric Managed Migration Service

Data Integrity Services, Inc.

This SAP ECC to Microsoft Fabric Managed Migration Service helps organizations modernize legacy SAP ECC reporting and analytics by migrating SAP ECC data workloads into Microsoft Fabric.

The service covers both the initial migration of SAP ECC data into Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse and the ongoing management of ingestion pipelines, semantic models, reporting performance, monitoring, validation, and governance. It enables customers to modernize SAP analytics using Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Power BI without relying on fragmented legacy reporting processes or custom point-to-point ETL solutions.

Once migrated, SAP ECC data is centrally stored in OneLake and organized through Fabric Lakehouse or Fabric Warehouse for enterprise analytics and reporting. Fabric Data Factory pipelines are used to automate data ingestion, incremental loads, orchestration, transformation, and validation. Power BI is used as the enterprise reporting and visualization layer for finance, procurement, inventory, supply chain, sales, and operational analytics.

This managed service is designed for customers who want a reliable, scalable, and secure Microsoft Fabric environment for SAP ECC analytics with continuous operational support rather than a one-time migration project.

What is Managed

  • Assessment of the current SAP ECC reporting and analytics landscape
  • Migration of selected SAP ECC data domains to Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse
  • Design and operation of Fabric Data Factory ingestion pipelines
  • Full and incremental SAP ECC data load strategies
  • Data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks between SAP ECC and Fabric
  • Power BI semantic model development and refresh management
  • Modernization of SAP ECC reports into Power BI dashboards
  • Monitoring, alerting, and pipeline failure remediation
  • Performance tuning and cost optimization for Fabric workloads
  • Access control, security, and governance alignment
  • Documentation, knowledge transfer, and user enablement

Business Outcomes

  • Modern cloud-native analytics platform for SAP ECC data
  • Centralized SAP data storage and analytics through Microsoft Fabric and OneLake
  • Reduced dependency on legacy SAP reporting environments
  • Improved reporting performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Governed and certified Power BI reporting for business users
  • Automated data ingestion, refresh, and validation processes
  • Improved visibility across finance, supply chain, procurement, inventory, and operations
  • AI-ready data foundation for future analytics and automation initiatives
  • Reduced operational overhead through ongoing managed service support

Service Approach

  • Discovery and Assessment: Review SAP ECC data sources, reports, dependencies, users, and business priorities.
  • Architecture Design: Define the Microsoft Fabric target architecture using OneLake, Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Data Factory, and Power BI.
  • Data Migration: Configure approved SAP ECC extraction methods and build ingestion pipelines into Microsoft Fabric.
  • Transformation and Modeling: Prepare SAP ECC data for analytics, reporting, and Power BI semantic models.
  • Reporting Modernization: Rebuild or enhance selected SAP ECC reports and dashboards in Power BI.
  • Validation and Deployment: Reconcile source and target data, test reporting outputs, and deploy to production.
  • Managed Operations: Monitor pipelines, optimize performance, manage refreshes, and provide ongoing support.

Prerequisites

  • Customer must provide access to the SAP ECC environment, required data objects, and technical stakeholders.
  • Customer must have or acquire the required Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure, and SAP licenses for the selected architecture.
  • Customer security, network, and SAP authorization requirements must be approved before implementation.
  • Final scope depends on the number of SAP data objects, reports, users, environments, integrations, and refresh requirements included in the engagement.
