Power BI is infinitely more powerful with the right infrastructure. An on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge, providing quick and secure data transfer between on-premises data and Power BI, Microsoft Flow, Logic Apps, and Power Apps services.

With on-premises gateways, you keep your data fresh by connecting to your on-premises data sources without needing to move the data. Query large datasets and benefit from your existing investments. Gateways provide the flexibility you need to meet individual needs, as well as the needs of your organization.

Deliverables

• Identify the location and type of your on-premises data sources (SQL Server, Analysis Services, Files, SharePoint, etc.)
• Identify the optimal location for your on-premises installation of the Power BI Gateway.
• Install the Power BI Gateway on-premises or provide support and guidance to your infrastructure department.
• Setup and configure the gateway in Power BI service.
• Configure the data sources in Power BI service, including configuring permissions for your Power BI service AAD user accounts.
• If required, configure Power BI service AAD user account to on-premises AD account mapping for Analysis Server data sources (or provide support to your infrastructure department to set up automatic mapping in the Gateway).
• Provide three (3) months limited upgrade support for the Gateway.
