Power BI Pro Performance: 3-Day Assessment

Power BI is a powerful tool that is enabling business professionals to interact and work with their data in ways that were not conceivable before. However, the performance of their analysis is critical to its success as an enabler for business change. As more and more users begin to self-serve with Power BI, the greater the potential impact slow reports can have.

Our Power BI experts will perform a detailed review of up to two (depending on size and complexity) of your most problematic reports in order to reveal the underlying issues that are impacting performance.

The review will consist of a consultant working alongside you to identify the key issues. As part of the assessment we will look at the following:

• How you can achieve the same (or in some cases significantly better) visual impact with fewer visuals, resulting in quicker report rendering

• Optimisation of the Power BI data model, following proven BI data modelling methods

• Optimisation and potential re-writes of DAX calculated measures to be more efficient

• An understanding of how to choose the best architecture and ingestion methods that utilise the benefits of newer Power BI functionality (e.g. composite models, aggregations and dataflows)

• Wider architectural considerations that may help with performance, including the use of other Azure data platform capabilities

• Review of the infrastructure set-up and associated connectivity to on-premises data sources

Note that this engagement does not include time to implement the recommendations identified. However, as a deliverable we will provide you with a clear set of actions which you can also apply on other reports within your organisation.
