Learn the techniques of building data visualisations so you can boost report effectiveness, productivity, self sufficiency, and quality.
Data visualisation design is about principles as well as utilising the best features of BI tools so this course is specifically designed to help you design best practice dashboards and reports, understand Power BI capabilities, and build effective visualisations using Power BI.
Day 1 - Data Visualisation Training
Loosely based upon the teachings of Stephen Few and Edward Tufte, and our experience delivering dashboards for 20 years, this is an introduction to best practice data visualisation and dashboard design. We have seen how applying these principles has radically improved reporting effectiveness in many organisations. During this day we will show many examples of effective data visualisations used within other organisations.
Day 2 – Practical Dashboard & Data Visualisation Design
Building on the principles taught in Day 1, delegates will bring their own dashboards and reports for discussion, critique, redesign, and review.
Day 3 – Power BI Introduction
This session covers connecting to and extracting data, transforming the data, creating powerful reports and dashboards, and publishing the results in PowerBI. The hands-on sessions allow the delegates to practice what they have learned and have their work reviewed by other delegates and Altis professionals
Day 4 – Bringing it all together
Using the designs created on Day 2 and the knowledge gained on Days 1 & 3 delegates will spend this day building and refining their dashboards whilst being able to call upon Altis expertise. The course will be completed with each team demonstrating their final designs and explaining their design rationales.
Note
The cost is per attendee for up to 12 delegates (minimum 4) and will be delivered at the client’s premises at dates to suit Altis will tailor this course according to the needs of the client. If, for example, the delegates are all proficient with Power BI, day 3 may be dropped altogether or replaced with a workshop.
